SUMMARY:   To supervise operation of bar/snack bar and/or restaurant, provide input to the General Manager on all food and beverage matters in the bowling center, maintain a safe environment, and improve bottom line profitability through appropriate revenue management, and handle regular bar/snack bar and/or restaurant duties. This position is a key position in the Center’s food and beverage operation.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following.

  • Provides friendly, courteous, polite and helpful customer service. Maintains safe work environment. Provides safe environment for customers.
  • Checks ID of customers to ensure we serve no one under legal drinking age. Controls service of alcohol to ensure that customers are not served in excess.
  • Ensures that all F&B promotions are implemented as specified. Ensures menu pricing is current. Communicates with F&B staff about all upcoming events, parties, banquets, promotions, or league start-ups, passes on all pertinent information. Encourages staff to sign up bowlers. Informs F&B employees about center activities and promotions. Asks customers to join leagues and/or participate in activities. Designs and implements daily, weekly and monthly F&B specials as directed.
  • Screens, interviews and trains bar, snack bar/kitchen and wait staff. Schedules all bar and food service staff. Oversees daily routines in restaurant and bar to ensure quality and service meet established specifications. Responsible for providing work direction to other F&B employees on required tasks. Ensures that uniform policy is followed by F&B staff.
  • Takes inventory daily on required items. Assists in developing levels of inventories (pars) on service requirements to inhibit waste and maintain security. Takes complete F&B inventory as required (weekly/monthly) and completes all accompanying paperwork. Orders all liquor, beer, food and F&B supplies. Receives and checks all food and beverage deliveries from vendors to ensure quality and quantity. Maintains current cost figures and informs Manager of any price changes necessary. Consistently reviews all vendor invoices to ensure proper pricing levels are being adhered to, inform manager of any changes that would affect the profitability of the center.
  • Reviews daily and weekly lounge reports. Analyzes P & L when it arrives monthly in the F&B area. Prepares annual review for F&B staff. Assists in setting F&B pricing and changes or updates pricing of products as necessary. Responsible for keeping cost of goods and revenues in line with budget. Performs special assignments as related to Food & Beverage upon request of the General Manager. Researches any inventory or cash discrepancies. Performs shift checkouts as required.
  • Attends Center staff meetings and updates employees on F&B activities. Verifies that all center and BB&B policies are implemented in Food & Beverage area, Conducts F&B staff meetings.
  • Adheres to Public Health Department Regulations. Required to attend local training sessions about food sanitation and liquor laws and obtain necessary certifications
  • Ability to work varying shifts, weekends and holidays, as well as, extended workdays to support business needs.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: n/a

 

QUALIFICATIONS: The Food and Beverage Supervisor possesses a highly developed sense of customer service and interpersonal skills including high integrity, respect for all individuals (customers, vendors, and employees), solid communication skills, strong critical and analytical thinking skills, and appreciation of diversity (thought, ethnic, gender, etc.).

 

The Food and Beverage Supervisor must be a strong team player and people developer.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Prior food and beverage customer service, bartender, drink preparation and food handling experience. Must have completed Serving Alcohol Responsibly training and be T.I.P.S. certified, must meet state age requirements for serving alcohol and possess any local alcohol serving requirements. Supervisory training and knowledge. High school diploma or equivalent. Degree in Food and Beverage Management preferred.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/ PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Bowling environment where you will walk, bend and stand for periods of time, and may lift objects with some assistance.  The noise level is typical for bowling.
